Putnam Sheriff Sought Federal Charges Against Levy, Report Says PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Putnam County Sherrif Don Smith spent three years pleading with state and federal authorities to arrest or remove former District Attorney Adam Levy from office, according to a lohud.com report. MTA Officer Pleads Guilty To Hitting Person With Baton In White Plains A 39-year-old Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officer was sentenced after pleading guilty to third-degree assault.Allan Fong was given a one-year conditional discharge and 50 hours of community service after pleading guilty to assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. Former Miss Puerto Rico Yonkers Raising Money Following Hurricane YONKERS, N.Y. -- Layla Vazquez wants to help her fellow Puerto Ricans. Vazquez, who was named Miss Puerto Rico Yonkers in 2010 when she was 16 has launched a GoFundMe page to raise money to purchase supplies for the people of Guyama, where her family lives. As of Friday afternoon, $1375 has been raised by 34 people over eight days. Scarsdale Man Caught Possessing, Promoting Child Porn, DA's Office Says WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 47-year-old Scarsdale resident was arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court on Thursday, accused of possessing and promoting child pornography. Students View Prospective Colleges At Annual Tuckahoe Fair TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- More than 65 schools came to Tuckahoe High School Thursday for the school's annual college fair. Spearheaded by the Tuckahoe High School Guidance Department, the fair allowed high school juniors and seniors to peruse higher education offerings and interact with representatives from across the country. Mount Vernon Councilman Accuses Mayor's Brother Of Assault MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Councilman Andre Wallace and Steve Thomas, brother of Mayor Richard Thomas got into an altercation at a bar Thursday night. Thomas was hosting a meet and greet at Maggie Spillane's when Wallace walked in, according to News12. The two men ended up outside and started pushing each other. Wallace said Thomas then punched him in the ear. Thomas said Wallace spit in his face. Wallace said the mayor's detail threw him against the wall, twisted his arm behind his back and told him to take a walk, according to News12. Wallace said he intends to file charges against Thomas.

10 Thefts Reported From Unlocked Cars, One Car Stolen In Ramapo ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Ramapo Police said thefts from 10 cars and one stolen car occurred Wednesday night in Wesley Hills. Entry to all the vehicles was gained through unlocked doors, police said. The stolen vehicle also had the doors unlocked and the key fob was inside of the vehicle, police said. "Ramapo Police reminds all of our residents to please lock your car doors at all times and don't leave anything in plain view inside the car that would entice someone to break into their car," police said. Two Men Caught With Heroin In Ardsley, Greenburgh Police Say A traffic stop in Ardsley resulted in the arrest of two men for possessing 501 glassine envelopes of heroin on Wednesday, Greenburgh Police said.Joseph Raffaelli, a 35-year-old Hawthorne resident, and Nicholas Coploff, a 34-year-old Irvington resident, were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. After police initiated the traffic stop, they said the two men were observed trying to hide the envelopes of heroin. The two are being held at Greenburgh Police Headquarters pending arraignment.
