Domestic Violence Services Comes To Northern Westchester SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Town of Somers is teaming up with other Northern Westchester communities to help victims of domestic violence. The Somers Town Board voted unanimously to spend $5,000 a year for a facility for victims of domestic service. Pound Ridge, North Salem, Lewisboro, and Bedford are also part of the initiative which was approved at the Sept. 7 meeting. The state Office of Prevention of Domestic Violence recently awarded the Westchester County Office For Women a $200,000 Risk Reduction Enhanced Response grant to cover two years of funding for the facility.

Man Who Filed False Tax Returns Drives Drunk, Yorktown Police Say A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with DWI on Route 6 in Northern Westchester Saturday. Jason Pastore, 36, of Yonkers was charged after an officer noticed a black Jeep traveling westbound on Route 6 in Yorktown failed to exercise due care while traveling by an officer, police said. After the vehicle was stopped, an investigation revealed Pastore was intoxicated, police said. He also refused a prescreening breath test, police said. Danny Lynch, who graduated from Suffern High School in 2001, is the new school resource officer. Lynch has served as a Ramapo police officer for 10 years and previously served in the NYPD for one year. Lynch is replacing Tommy Donnelly, who retired after 17 years as school resource officer.
