DUI Driver Failed To Yield In Crash That Killed 32-Year-Old Passenger, Pug In VA: Cops
An arrest has been made in an April crash that killed a dog and a 32-year-old woman in Prince William County, authorities said. Jason Carter Lambeth, 46, was operating a 1993 Buick Roadmaster while "under the influence," and failed to yield the right-of-way to a Dodge Ram pickup on Yates Ford Road in Manassas, causing the crash that killed Jessica Randall on April 15, county police said. A retired Newark police officer died and another victim was severely burned in a South River home explosion, officials tell Daily Voice. Kevin Gilbert, a 26-year veteran of the Newark Police Department, died in the mysterious explosion around 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, South River Mayor Peter Guindi tells Daily Voice. Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene. Landlord Charged With Abduction After Tenant Dispute In Northern VA: Police
A 43-year-old man was charged with abduction after a dispute with a much younger, female tenant in Woodbridge, police said. Elith Samuel Parada was arguing with the 23-year-old tenant at a home on the 2700 block of Burrough Hill Lane in Woodbridge around 10:30 p.m. april 21, when he physically prevented her from leaving the home, county police said. After an "extended period of time," the victim was able to leave the home and called police. No injuries were reported. A 33-year-old man who broke into an Arlington hotel room was arrested after police found him with drugs, authorities said. Deonte Lewis, of no fixed address, and another person broke into a hotel room on the 2400 block of S. Glebe Road just before 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, the sheriff's office said. The body of a 70-year-old kayaker who'd gone missing earlier in the week during a fishing trip along the Schuylkill River earlier this week has been recovered, authorities said. Victim Shot By Man He Met In Rideshare In Fairfax County: Police
A 32-year-old man has been arrested for shooting a person he'd met in a rideshare vehicle in Fairfax County, police said. Yusef Roy, of Lorton, and the passenger were picked up at difference places but were dropped off at the same final destination near the 9200 block of Ashland Woods on March 1, Fairfax County police said.
