An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Ossining Food Pantry Hosting Annual Gala OSSINING, N.Y. -- For 29 years, the Ossining Food Pantry has helped feed people in need. The food pantry is hosting the 29th annual celebration on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Briarcliff Manor at 25 Studio Hill Road in Briarcliff. Proceeds from the event, which costs $60 per person, will go toward purchasing food to feed the needy in Ossining. Edward Delaney, 93, Yorktown Heights Native, World War II Veteran YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. --  Edward “Ed” J. Delaney passed peacefully at the age of 93 on Aug. 23 at his home in California.  He is predeceased by his parents Edward J. Delaney and Marie Josephine Leary in Boston, MA., his first wife, Marie Rose Dever and his grandson, Craig Edward Delaney. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II aboard the Landing Ship Tank 170 in the Pacific. He saw combat action aboard the LST in a number of naval battles and landings in the South Pacific from 1942-1945.  After the war, Ed married his neighborhood sweetheart, Marie Rose Dever, and had 2 sons, Ed…

Hastings Welcomes New Teachers HASTINGS, N.Y. -- The Hastings-on-Hudson Union Free School District is getting some new blood. The school district announced its new teachers for the 2017-2018 school year. The high school is adding six new teachers. Farragut Middle School is adding three teachers, while Hillside Elementary School is adding 11 teachers, including John Dekams as assistant principal.  Tesfa Stewart is the new district-wide Assistant Director of Special Education.

Ramapo Makes Pitch To Amazon For New HQ ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Town of Ramapo is hoping to be the home of Amazon's new headquarters.Supervisor Yitzchok Ullman wrote a letter to CEO Jeff Bezos expressing his interest in having Amazon come to Ramapo. The new headquarters could bring 50,000 new jobs to Ramapo over the next two decades, Ullman said. Man Who Filed False Tax Returns Drives Drunk, Yorktown Police Say A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with DWI on Route 6 in Northern Westchester Saturday. Jason Pastore, 36, of Yonkers was charged after an officer noticed a black Jeep traveling westbound on Route 6 in Yorktown failed to exercise due care while traveling by an officer, police said. After the vehicle was stopped, an investigation revealed Pastore was intoxicated, police said. He also refused a prescreening breath test, police said. Suffern High School Welcomes New School Resource Officer SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A Suffern High School graduate is coming home. Danny Lynch, who graduated from Suffern High School in 2001, is the new school resource officer. Lynch has served as a Ramapo police officer for 10 years and previously served in the NYPD for one year. Lynch is replacing Tommy Donnelly, who retired after 17 years as school resource officer.
