Putnam Voters Will Head To Polls For School Elections It is school budget season in Putnam. Voters throughout the county will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on whether to approve school budgets and elect trustees to the school board. Several school districts have propositions on the ballot. In Carmel, incumbent Tara DeTurris is being challenged by James Reese, Tara Eacobacci and Mary Smith for two open seats. The $123.1 million budget increases spending by 1.71 percent with a tax levy increase of .97 percent. The SPCA in Briarcliff Manor is looking to find a forever home for Johnny, one of eight dogs rescued from a recent cruelty case. Yorktown Man Possessed Heroin, Had License Suspended 10 Times, Police Say YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A Yorktown man was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and possessing a quantity of heroin, following a traffic stop Wednesday. On Wednesday, Kenneth Mitchell, 57, was pulled over in the Triangle Shopping Center after an officer observed him using his cell phone while driving, police said. Mitchell's driver's license was found to have been allegedly suspended 10 times on seven different dates. Teen Arrested For Assault Following Fight At Club Fit, Yorktown Police Say JEFFERSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- A 19-year-old Mohegan Lake man was arrested and charged with assault after Yorktown Police responded to an altercation at Club Fit in Jefferson Valley on May 5. Sean Chatman was charged with assault in the third degree, a Class A misdemeanor, after police say he assaulted another individual, causing injuries. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on June 6.

Downtown Chappaqua Improvements Get Scaled Back CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Downtown Chappaqua will still be getting improved infrastructure, though it will be less than originally thought. The New Castle Town Board awarded an $11.6 million bid for the project at Tuesday's town board meeting after eliminating $2 million worth of improvements. The board voted 3-2 to award the project to ELQ Industries. The 18-month project will replace aging water and sewer mains and is set to begin this summer. The town will bond the $11.6 milion.

Kennedy's time in Westchester, when he lived in Bronxville.
