Absentee Ballots Give Merandy Second Term As Cold Spring Mayor COLD SPRING, N.Y. -- All the votes have finally been counted and David Merandy is still Mayor of Cold Spring. Absentee ballots tallied Tuesday at the Putnam County Board of Elections in Carmel gave Merandy a 23-vote lead over challenger Allison Anthonie, 390 votes to 367 votes.  Before absentee votes were counted Merandy led 369 votes to 347 votes. Merandy was running for a second term, having been first elected in 2015.

Marquez was presented with the 2017 Hometown Hero Award by The Exchange Club on March 16 in recognition of his rescue of a man from a burning building last summer. Putnam Valley Grad Named Valedictorian Of NYU College Of Arts And Sciences PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- John Messinger, a 2013 graduate of Putnam Valley High School, is at the top of the class. Messinger was named valedictorian for the NYU College of Arts and Sciences with a GPA of 3.959. Messinger was also the recipient of the Roland P. Beattie Award and the Presidential Honors Scholars Program. Messinger has studied proteins implicated in dementia and is now researching decision making by people addicted to opiates. Cold Spring Mayoral Race Hinges On Absentee Ballots COLD SPRING, N.Y. -- Despite a comfortable lead, no one is quite ready to declare victory in the race for Mayor of Cold Spring. Incumbent David Merandy leads Alison Anthoine by 22 votes, 369 votes to 347 votes. Forty absentee ballots need to be counted and another 20 absentee ballots are outstanding. The Putnam County Board of Elections will count the absentee ballots on March 28 at 3 p.m. Merandy is running for a second term.
