Three Workers Injured After Roof Collapses At Montrose VA MONTROSE, N.Y. -- A roof collapse at the Montrose VA sent three construction workers plummeting 15-20 feet Tuesday. The construction workers fell through the roof in Building 26, where a pool and gym are under construction, according to Barbara LaColla, public affairs specialist for the Montrose VA .The site was secured and only contractors were allowed entry, LaColla said. The contractors were aware the roof was in a comprised state, LaColla said. The VA said they are investigating whether the contractors followed safety precautions, Lacolla said. Somers 7-Year-Old Already A Karate Champion SOMERS, N.Y. -- The next karate kid is from Somers. And she's only 7-year-old. Sierra Deodhari, who currently has a brown belt, is the holder of 2 international titles and is ranked in the #1 in the New York Karate Tournament for her age group. Sierra, who trains at Croton Karate under Peter Doherty and attends Somers Elementary School, recently won the USA Karate Federation Do Philadelphia Regional Open and took third place in the under 13 black/brown belt division. Dutchess Charity Helps Children In Africa Learn Soccer PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- As coach of the Arlington High School girl's soccer team, Kieran McIlvenny, a Pleasant Valley resident, had seen how participating in sports can help kids, so he decided to transport that across the world. McIlvenny and his wife Donna, run Kickin' Back Ltd. The non-profit has donated soccer equipment, clothes and books to children in Namibia and help learn them the game of soccer. Police ID Man Feared Drowned In Hudson CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Westchester County Police are still searching for Alex DeSouza, a 47-year-old Brooklyn resident, who went swimming in the Hudson River Tuesday morning at Croton Point Park and is believed to have drowned.
