School Custodian Charged With Making Threats To Westchester Co-Worker BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- A police presence was increased at Briarcliff schools on Friday after a custodian at Todd Elementary School was charged with making threats to a co-worker on Thursday. Christopher Detlefsen, a 46-year-old resident of Milton, was arrested and charged with 3rd degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, Village Manager Philip Zegarelli said. He was released on $10,000 bail and has been suspended with pay from the district, Zegarelli said. Detlefsen has been employed by the district for 15 years, Zegarelli said. Police Investigating Attempt To Lure Middle School Girl In Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining Police said a man tried to lure a girl into his van on Monday near Anne M. Dorner Middle School. The man was driving a white van and approached a middle school girl walking home from school at the intersection of Van Cortlandt Avenue and Route 9, police said. The man told the girl her mom had been in an accident and that she needed to come with him, police said. The girl waved him off and went home, police said. The walls of Reynolds' apartment are filled with photos and mementos featuring US presidents past and present. John Kasich Hosting Town Hall At Iona College NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The race for the Republican nomination for president will go through New Rochelle Saturday. Ohio Governor John Kasich has scheduled a town hall at Iona College at 4 p.m. The town hall will be held in the Hynes Center in the Mulcahy Room. Dutchess Resident Gipson Running To Regain State Senate Seat DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Former State Senator Terry Gipson is throwing his hat back into the political ring. Gipson, a Rhinebeck resident, announced he intends to run against Senator Sue Serino in the 41st Senate District and win back the seat he lost to Serino in 2014. The 41st Senate District covers parts of Putnam and Dutchess counties. The former senator was elected to the seat in 2012, defeating Stephen Saland and Neil Di Carlo in a three-way race. Westchester Woman Celebrates 100th Birthday OSSINING, N.Y. -- Evelyn Solomons had a very special birthday Monday. Solomons, who lives at Atria on the Hudson turned 100 and was feted with a birthday party and a proclamation from Mayor Victoria Gearity. Gearity declared March 28 Evelyn Solomons Day in the Village of Ossining. The centenarian was born in Brooklyn but spent most of her life in Buffalo. Westchester Resident, 93, Publishes Memoirs OSSINING, N.Y. -- Audrey Rodgers, an Ossining resident, isn't letting her advanced age slow her down. The 93-year-old, who lives at the Atria on the Hudson in the village, has become a prolific author and recently published her new book, "A Tangle of Memoirs." The book is Rodgers' third since moving to the Atria. Rodgers, who lives with her dog, Mikey, spent 38 years teaching at the Penn State English Department with a specialty in modern American poetry.
