An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Pleasantville Music Festival Names New Executive Director PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y . -- The Pleasantville Music Festival is singing a different tune at the top of the chart. Andy Goodman has replaced Sol Skolnick as executive director of the music festival, which will be held July 11 at Parkway Field. The music festival has been regarded as the village's biggest day of the year. "The opportunity presented itself and I expressed some interest," Goodman said. "I wanted to lend a hand." Putnam Valley Temple Hosts Hanukkah Festival PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Festival of Lights is being celebrated with a party in Putnam Valley. The Reform Temple of Putnam Valley at 362 Church Road is hosting Hanukkah Fest Friday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. All are welcome, with a $5 per family donation encouraged. Secretary Is Still Looking For Dog Missing From Her Yorktown Home YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The search for Patches, an 18-year-old white and black long-haired chihuahua that went missing in Yorktown in November, continues. Patches belongs to Janet Nicolai, the secretary to Mount Pleasant Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi and was last seen on Loder Street. "Nobody has turned him in," Nicolai said. "I haven't heard one thing. Ossining Cheer Program Celebrates Successful Inaugural Year OSSINING, N.Y. -- As the Ossining Little League football team made its mark on the field, the new cheerleading squad made its mark off the field. More than 65 cheerleaders cheered in the inaugural Ossining Little League Cheer program, cheering on the 7th and 8th grade football team that went undefeated for the first time. Peekskill Councilman Takes Part In Protests In Grand Central Terminal PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill Councilman Darren Rigger made sure his voice was heard at Grand Central Terminal this past weekend. Yorktown Farm Gets Into The Christmas Spirit YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A farm in Yorktown has so many Christmas supplies that even Santa Claus would be impressed. Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm at 1335 White Hill Road has been offering choose and cut Christmas trees since the 1970's. Besides Douglas Fir or Fraser Fir Christmas trees, which are mostly sold out, the farm offers wreaths, tree stands and decorations. Firefighters Battling House Fire In Cortlandt Manor CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- Firefighters were battling a fire at a home on Valerie Lane in Cortlandt Manor Friday night. The Continental Village Fire Department said the fire department was on the scene at around 8:30 p.m. after hearing reports of flames coming from the roof. Hudson Valley Hospital Center Has Twin Baby Boom CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Over a 24-hour span, the staff at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt was seeing double. Three sets of twins were delivered in a day's time, a record for the hospital. Four sets of twins were born in one week. Leeah and Brodie Hoyer, who are stationed at West Point, delivered Viggo and Cormac on Tuesday. Viggo was born at 2:15 and Cormac at 2:24 p.m. Brodie, an Army major, teaches at West Point.
