An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Seniors have been benefiting since the town hired Liz Thomas in September 2011 as senior citizens senior recreation leader in the town's Parks and Recreation Department.  The town's seniors come to the recreation building at 40 Maple Ave. for activities and walks. Desmarais, who is going into her senior year at Horace Greeley High School, launched a clothing drive to provide clothes for the kids at Blythedale, who often don't have enough clothes that fit.  Blythedale's closet was also disorganized, so Desmarais worked to clean and organize it to make it easier for nurses to provide clothes for kids. Mt. Kisco Chamber Proposes Banner Program MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.-- The Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce has proposed putting up banners throughout the village to raise awareness of local businesses. Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Kane and Executive Director Caroline Loeb presented a proposal to the Mount Kisco Village Board on Aug. 12 that would see more than 80 banners in the village. Ossining Home Torn Down After Fire OSSINING, N.Y.-- What was once a two-family home at 49 Hunter St. in Ossining has been reduced to rubble after a fire. The fire, which began early Wednesday morning badly damaged the home, which was torn down late Wednesday night after firefighters cleaned out the house. The Fire Department said an engineer from an insurance company did an assessment and deemed the house not structurally sound. According to North Castle police, at 4:12 p.m., a resident of the home reported her car was on fire inside her garage. Propane Fire Contained In Bedford BEDFORD, N.Y.-- The Bedford Fire Department has contained a propane fire that occurred in a cottage at 1061 Old Post Road. Fire officials believe the fire started after a propane tank was struck by lightning,though the determination has not been made the official cause. Lewisboro Farms Added to Westchester County Agriculture District BEDFORD, N.Y.-- Six farms, in North Salem, Lewisboro and Bedford, have been added to the county's agricultural district. The farms are SweetWater Farm in North Salem (13.30 acres), Gossett Brothers Nursery in Lewisboro (5.50 acres), Sun Raven Farm in Bedford, (4 acres), Canterwood Farm in North Salem (19.11 acres), 102 Titicus Road in North Salem (1.31 acres) and Mill Pond Farm in Bedford (24.79 acres).
