Poughkeepsie School District Agrees To Exit Deal With Finance Chief POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Poughkeepsie City School District was going to fire Assistant Superintendent of Finance Wayne Kurlander, but ended up with a deal for him to resign and collect a paycheck on paid administrative leave until his last day, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal. Rescued Torahs, Children's Choir Highlight Remembrance Day In White Plains WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Westchester County recently held a commemoration of Yom Hashoah, the Day of Remembrance which honors the memories of 11 million people who perished during The Holocaust, including six million Jews.  The commemoration was held at the Garden of Remembrance in White Plains and attended by 350 people.  Children from the Westchester Day School Choir performed. The audience included members of congregations throughout Westchester who participated in a commemorative procession of 25 Torah scrolls that were rescued from The Holocaust.
