Steve Stafstrom (D-Bridgeport) announced Tuesday that he is sponsoring two bills that close loopholes in Connecticut’s gun regulations.The first bill, HB 5408, would explicitly authorize police to require a person carrying a handgun to produce their permit upon request by a police officer. New Rochelle High Senior Adam Itzkowitz Named Presidential Scholar NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle High School senior Adam Itzkowitz has been named one of 4,000 U.S. Presidential Scholars out of 3.3 million students nationwide.  Those chosen for this honor exhibit superior academic and/or artistic achievements, exceptional leadership qualities, strong character, and active involvement in community service and school activities.  After further evaluation of the scholars, 800 program semifinalists will be notified in early April, with up to 161 finalists named in May.  Itzkowitz will attend the Cornell University School of Engineering in the fall.
