WESTPORT, Conn. — The Westport Sunrise Rotary Club's Charitable Giving Committee is now accepting grant applications for 2016. Last year, the club awarded grants to 37 nonprofit organizations actively involved in Westport, Norwalk, Darien and Bridgeport. Westport Library Schedules Second All-Night Maker Madness
WESTPORT, Conn. -- The second Westport Library Maker Madness, for ages 11 through adult, will feature maker workshops and hands-on building and creating. The event begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 12 and ends at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 13. It takes place throughout the library. Register early; a participation waiver is required. CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Croton-on-Hudson based pediatric dentist Dr. Meredeth Glenn encouraged Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School to engage in healthy habits – ranging from getting enough sleep and exercising to eat healthy foods – during her visit to the school on Feb. 24. Shelton's McGorty Looks To Increase Penalties For Assaulting Off-Duty Cops
SHELTON, Conn. -- State Rep. Ben McGorty (R-122) has proposed legislation that would increase penalties for anyone who assaults an off-duty police officer. McGorty asked for support for his proposal during a public hearing of the legislature’s Public Safety Committee. “A police officer may have their shift end, but they never really go off-duty,” said McGorty, who serves parts of Shelton, Stratford and Trumbull. “Many times public safety requires them to go into action when they are present at an emergency, or are nearby. Isaac E. Young Middle School Robotics Club Visits City College
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Isaac E. Young Middle School Robotics Club recently visited City College of New York to participate in an engaging session of programming and robotics discovery, plus receive a tour of the college. Students worked side by side with Isaac Young alumnus Clyde Korn, a current engineering major and president of the City College of New York's own robotics club. Several other members of the City College Robotics Club joined the group to teach students, as well.

DANBURY, Conn. -- In addition to winning the HVAL Tournament Championship, the varsity boys basketball team from Wooster School in Danbury has been selected to compete in the prestigious Class D New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Tournament. Wooster is the number three seed and will host number 6 Boston Trinity Academy, defending NEPSAC champions, on Wednesday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Forever Young Gymnasium.
