Eastchester Music Boosters Announce Upcoming Events
EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Eastchester High School EGO is sponsoring its annual Rock Against Cancer event on Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. It is an opportunity for student bands to showcase their talent. There will be special performances by the Jazz Band and social studies teacher Bruce Reitenbach. Easton Police Form St. Baldrick's Team To Help Childhood Cancer Research
EASTON, Conn. -- The Easton Police Department is happy to announce it has created a St. Baldrick's Team raising money for childhood cancer research. Going by the name "St. Baldrick's Team," department members will shave their heads for the cause. The local event they are supporting is March 7 at Joel Barlow High School. Trumbull Library Hosts Norwalk Maritime Aquarium's Live Touch Tank
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Explore creatures of the sea in "All the Light We Cannot See" by visiting the Maritime Aquarium's touch tank in the Trumbull Library Community Room with the aquarium's traveling teachers. Examine this hands-on learning station that includes tidepool creatures, such as crabs, sea stars, snails and clams on March 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. Drop-ins are welcome and the event is free. Bronxville Elementary School Learns About China From Visitors
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Bronxville Elementary School third-graders hosted two high school students from China on Feb. 5 and got immersed into the history and culture they’re studying about in their social studies classes.The visitors, Haofeng Cen and Yin Yi Zhuo, spoke to all six third-grade classes about China’s geography, clothing, shelters, foods, traditions, celebrations and currency. Greenwich Library Event Explores History Of New Haven Railroad
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Rick Abramson, a 44-year veteran of the Connecticut railways, returns to the Greenwich Library on Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. to discuss how the electrification of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad made rail travel more efficient and attractive. In 1907, the first electrified train service opened between Stamford and Woodlawn in New York City. It was extended to New Haven in 1914.
