Fairfield's Kupchick Prepares ‘Business Advisory Council’ Legislation
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- State Rep. Brenda Kupchick (R-Fairfield) held a quarterly meeting with her legislative Business Advisory Council asking for their input for possible legislative proposals this coming session, which starts on Feb. 3. State Sen. Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield) also joined the group discussion. Kupchick, a long time small business owner in Fairfield, formed a BAC in 2011. New Canaan Library Seeks Additional $50K In Budget
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Little costs add up and the New Canaan Public Library is asking for an additional $50,000 on top of its regular budget, reports New Canaan Advertiser . Everyday costs like insurance, bank charges, cleaning supplies and garbage collection are just some necessities noted where the extra funds would be needed, according to New Canaan Advertiser. Meet The Community Over Coffee At Redding's Mark Twain Library
EASTON, Conn. -- Meet people in the community over coffee on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.at the Mark Twain Library in Redding. WESTPORT, Conn. -- Two Westport properties, 1177 and 1141 Post Rd. East, have sold for a combined value of $10.8 million. Both properties were owned by the Kowalsky family of The Kowalsky Brothers Construction Co. The property at 1177 Post Rd. Therapy Dogs Visit Veterinary Students in Yorktown Heights
YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Veterinary Medicine students at The Tech Center at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES had a visit from some furry friends this week. Heidi Bonorato, owner and program director of Giving Retriever, which specializes in training therapy dogs, brought along an 11-year-old Golden Retriever who is a service dog ambassador and puppy mentor, and a seven-month-old yellow lab retriever in training. VALHALLA, N.Y. -- As safety is a top priority in the Valhalla Union Free School District, the physical education and health staff members began a new initiative to educate students about how to guard themselves against abduction. Since January, each school has delved into an age-appropriate curriculum aimed at helping students learn strategies to keep them safe in school, at home and online.
