Ramapo Central BOE Member Honored By County School Boards Association RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo Central School District Board member Maureen Danzig received the Rockland County School Boards Association's EDDY Award for excellence in school board service.Danzig was first elected to the Board in 2010 and has served two three-year terms. She earned RCSBA recognition for her advocacy work to eliminate the gap elimination adjustment, as well as her support of the district's students and schools. The EDDY Award was presented at RCSBA's annual dinner on June 15.

Ramapo Police Respond To Accident On Saddle River Road RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police responded to the scene of a car crash at 4 a.m. Tuesday when a car crashed into a utility pole on Saddle River Road just south of Grove Street in Monsey. The driver in the accident was transported to the hospital by Spring Hill Ambulance. Saddle River Road was closed in the area pending removal of the vehicle.

Footnote Cafe In Ossining Library Closing OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Footnote Café, run by Rich Foshay and Beylka Krupp of Wobble Café on Campwoods Road in Ossining, will be closing at the end of the month.They have managed the Footnote Café since its opening in 2007 at the Ossining Public Library. The library board said it working on plans to provide vending machines as a short term solution, while it evaluates future plans for the café area.

New City Fire Department Holds Monday Drill Night NEW CITY, N.Y. -- New City Fire Department members held a drill where basic FAST team techniques were shown on Monday, June 27. A simulation of a simple packaging of a downed firefighter was demonstrated along with rope and fully lifts. FAST (or RIT) in some areas, consist of a group of trained firefighters dispatched to working fires as a standby rescue crew should something go wrong, such as a mayday, collapse, or lost firefighter.
