Mark Portanova, 62, Lifelong Stamford Resident STAMFORD, Conn. -- Mark Portanova, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Thursday, May 28. He was 62. He was born to Sophie (Kossluk) and Michael A. Portanova in Stamford. Portanova was an avid gardener, whose vegetables were coveted by his entire family. He was a doting grandfather and loved his dogs.  He is survived by his wife, Betty (Lao) Portanova; his son, Mark; his stepchildren, Christine and Rommel; and his grandson, Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael, Jeffrey, Gina, Alan and Craig. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. C…

White Plains' Jonathan Albert Runs For Championship Track Team WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Jonathan Albert, a dietetics major from White Plains, was a member of the 2014-15 SUNY Oneonta men's track and field team, which won the SUNYAC indoor championship and was second at the outdoor championship this year. Albert competed in sprints and relays for the Red Dragons. He has run 60 meters in 7.2 seconds for Oneonta. His best times in 100 meters is 11.2 seconds. He has run 200 meters in about 23 seconds and 300 meters in 38 seconds. Darien's Danielle Williams Wins Arts Center Scholarship DARIEN, Conn. -- Danielle Williams is the recipient of the Darien Arts Center's 2015 Ginny Wright Scholarship. The presentation was made at the 57th annual Darien Art Show and Sale reception.  This scholarship, in memory of Virginia Wright, a talented artist, DAC volunteer and benefactor, is given to a Darien High School senior planning to continue the study of visual arts or design in college, according to a press release.
