Luis Lopez, 81, Bridgeport Resident
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. --
Luis "Pololo" "Chi Chi" Lopez, 81, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, Aug. 22, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.
In his early days, Lopez played for the Telelo Vargas League. He was one of the first Hispanics in Little League and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Borinquen Softball League. In 2014, Bridgeport honored him by declaring Oct. 18 as Luis Lopez Day.
He was the companion of Irma S. Fernandez, his partner for 28 years.

5K on Sept. 5 Benefits Dumont Cares Fund
DUMONT, N.J. -- The 10th annual Dumont 5K Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at Dumont High School on New Milford Avenue.
Proceeds of the race will benefit the Dumont Cares Fund. The fund was created for residents of Dumont, specifically families who, because of a recent tragedy, urgently need financial assistance.

Constance Sielicki, 88, Yonkers Resident
YONKERS, N.Y. --
Constance "Connie" Sielicki, of Yonkers, died Saturday, Aug. 22, at age 88.
Sielicki was born on Feb. 6, 1927, to Anthony and Mary Jane (Shea) Carvalho in Raynham, Mass., where she was raised and educated.
On Feb. 6, 1949, she married Walter Sielicki at St. Elizabeth Church in Linden, N.J.
She was the supervisor of the food service department for the Yonkers Board of Education for more than30 years. She previously worked as a dietitian at St. John's Hospital in Yonkers.

Francis B. Woodruff, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Thursday, Aug. 20. He was 88.
Woodruff was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Rochester, N.Y. He worked for many years in construction management with the Archdiocese of New York, The Children's Village, Chase Manhattan Bank, NBC and CBS.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. --
Evelyn (Abernethy) Amaral, 80, of Bridgeport, the wife of Ernest Amaral, died Friday, Aug. 21, at Cambridge Health Center.
Born in New London to Russell and Margaret Abernethy, Amaral lived most of her life in Connecticut. She lived in Bridgeport and New London and, for a short time, in Long Beach, Calif.
She worked for the city of Bridgeport in the Tax Collector's Office for more than 20 years. She also worked at Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. She taught calligraphy at the Bridgeport Evening Education Program.
