Ruth Voorhees Warm, 86, Longtime Darien Resident
DARIEN, Conn. -- Ruth Voorhees Warm, a longtime Darien resident, died Friday, Aug. 14, at Stamford Hospital. She was 86.
She was born to the late Clarence Merwin Voorhees and Helen Griswald Albrecht in Stamford on Aug. 26, 1928.
She graduated from Darien High school in 1946. She then worked at Best & Co. and Stolers in Noroton Heights. In addition to her work, she was a homemaker and member of St Luke's Parish, the Darien Senior Center and the 60 Plus Club, all in Darien. She was also a member of Eastern Star.

NORWALK, Conn. -- Edward Charles Berndt Jr., 91, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Aug. 15.
He was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Norwalk to the late Edward C. Berndt Sr. and Jessie (Jennings) Berndt.
He was married to Barbara (Rogers) Berndt for 58 years.
After graduating from Norwalk High School and attaining his BS. in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he served in the Navy during World War II. While working as an elevator inspector for Otis Elevator in New York City, he earned his MBA from Columbia University at night.

Presidential Candidate Donald Trump Wants Supporters To Swear Off Oreos
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, has vowed not to eat Oreo cookies again, according to a report in The Daily Meal.
Trump was reacting to a report that Mondelez International, which owns Oreo maker Nabisco, will close its plant in Chicago and move operations to Mexico, The Daily Meal reported.
Trump, the billionaire developer and casino owner whose Greenwich, Conn., estate is on the market, also asked his supporters to swear off Oreos, according to The Daily Meal.
