New Rochelle Gets Special Visitor From French Sister City
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Jean-Francois Fountaine, the mayor of La Rochelle, New Rochelle's sister city in France, recently visited Mayor Noam Bramson.
"He speaks fluent English, which is fortunate, because my knowledge of French, despite five years of study, doesn’t extend much beyond 'bonjour,'” Bramson said on his website, http://www.noambramson.org/2015/07/bonjour/. "It was a pleasure to welcome him here, and I hope someday to visit La Rochelle, which is, by all accounts, a beautiful community."
Litigation Manager For Rye Law Firm Sworn In As U.S. Citizen
RYE, N.Y. – Abbie Rodriguez, a Greenwich, Conn., resident and litigation department manager for Dorf & Nelson LLP of Rye, has passed her citizenship test and was officially sworn in as a U.S. citizen on July 24.
Rodriguez grew up in the Philippines with her mother, father, four sisters and one brother. Her mother worked as a housekeeper and baby sitter, and was the sole provider for Abbie and her five siblings. In 2002, upon earning her bachelor’s degree from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines, Abbie Rodriguez moved to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream. …
