P2E Job Program In Bridgeport Launches Online Job Application BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Platform to Employment, or P2E, a nationally recognized program that is putting the long-term unemployed back to work has opened its online application, according to The WorkPlace. The program is accepting applications from Connecticut residents who are unemployed and have exhausted 26 weeks or more of unemployment. Yonkers Youths Study Hudson In Summer STEM Program YONKERS, N.Y. -- During July, seventh- and eighth-grade Yonkers Public School students took on the role of scientists as part of the Summer STEM Initiative program in collaboration with Sarah Lawrence College and the Center for the Urban River at Beczak. Each group of students visited CURB to participate in "Catch of the Day," seining as well as water quality monitoring. During seining, participants waded into the Hudson to catch various species of fish, crabs and shrimp using a seine net. Once on shore, they kept a tally of the species caught. Iona's Avery Repeats As MAAC Student-Athlete of the Year NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Kate Avery, Iona College women's cross-country/track rising senior, has been named the 2015-16 MAAC Female Student-Athlete of the Year by a vote of the league's sports information directors. Avery earned the honor for the second straight season, becoming just the second female athlete in the award's history to repeat. Mamaroneck Ironman Raises $6K For Adoption Nonprofit RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- Sam Karliner, of Mamaroneck, secretary of the board for Forever Families Through Adoption Inc. in Rye Brook, completed the 2015 Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid for his fourth time. Karliner not only completed it in his own record time, but he also surpassed his expectations and finished with an official time of 11:46:57 – under the 12 hours he hoped to achieve.
