Putnam Sheriff, Kent PD Will Ramp Up DWI Patrols
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- To help save lives during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith and Town of Kent Police Chief Alex Divernieri announced their departments will have increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints. ID Released For Man Killed In Route 22 Head-On Crash In Putnam
A Dutchess County man has been identified as the victim of a head-on crash on Route 22 in Southeast on Tuesday, according to Putnam County Sheriff's office.
Killed in the crash was Gelsomino Lombardo, 59, of Hopewell Junction, said Capt. William McNamara.
Injured were Peter V. Cardone, 72, and his wife, Josephine C. Cardone, 69, both of Bayside in Queens, police said.
According to preliminary reports, Lombardo was driving alone in a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse heading northbound on Route 22 just north of the Milltown Road intersection in Southeast. His car crossed over into the southbound lane…
Former Mahopac/Carmel Chamber CEO, Brewster Trustee Admits Theft

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The former CEO of the Greater Mahopac/Carmel Chamber of Commerce pleaded guilty Tuesday to a reduced misdemeanor charge of petty larceny for stealing almost $3,000 from the organization.
Erin Meagher, 27, of Brewster, was charged in March with grand larceny for using chamber funds to purchase expensive clothes, shoes, and handbags.
On Tuesday, she agreed to 100 hours of community service and to pay back $2,809.98 in restitution, said Larry Glasser, an assistant district attorney in Putnam County.
