20 Alpacas, Peacocks Saved In Hudson Valley Barn Fire HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Firefighters from the Roosevelt Fire District in Hyde Park made quick work Sunday night of saving more than 20 Alpacas in a pen located beside a barn that was on fire. Monsey Fire Ravages Route 306 Home RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Firefighters from several departments battled an overnight fire Monday at a home on Route 306 in Monsey. Ramapo police also responded to the two-story home at 244 Route 306 to help evacuate residents, said Ramapo police. Firefighters from the Monsey, Hillcrest, Spring Valley, Tallman, South Spring Valley Fire departments all responded, police said. No injuries were reported. The Town of Ramapo Fire Inspector, Rockland County BCI, and Ramapo detectives also responded to the scene.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Ramapo PD: Suffern Man Facing Drug Charges After Car 'Reeked' Of Pot RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Suffern man who was parked in the Indian Rock Shopping Center in the Village of Montebello was charged with possession of drugs Thursday after officers smelled marijuana in his car, police said.The unidentified 26-year-old was charged after a Ramapo police officer noticed a suspicious car parked in the empty lot around 10 p.m. and investigated to see if anyone was inside, police said.
