Fire Destroys School Bus During Height Of Morning Commute In Irvington This story has been updated. IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- An All County minibus bus caught fire around 8 a.m. Friday on South Broadway in Irvington, completely destroying the bus, according to Irvington Fire Chief Anthony Tarricone.  No students were onboard at the time of the fire, Tarricone said. Traffic was a nightmare during the morning commute as Irvington firefighters worked to douse the flames, as police directed traffic. New Hamburg Road Bridge Work In Wappinger To Begin Commuters should be prepared for delays and alternate lane traffic on New Hamburg Road as work begins Monday, March 6 to rebuild the Wappinger Creek bridge. The Dutchess County Department of Public Works said the bridge, which services the New Hamburg train station, is in need of repair due to the condition of the bridge deck and portions of steel elements.  The construction will be completed in two phases, allowing for the continued flow of traffic using a one-lane alternating traffic pattern controlled by a temporary traffic signal, officials said. Fire That Destroyed Lake Carmel Home Caused By Failed Chimney CARMEL, N.Y. -- A fire that destroyed a Kent home in the Lake Carmel section of town was caused by a failing chimney hooked to a pellet stove, said Lake Carmel Fire Chief Jack Keher.
