Mahopac Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charge
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Cortlandt Manor man was busted for possession of drugs after he was stopped on Wednesday, Feb. 22 for a traffic violation in Mahopac, said Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith.
Michael Power, 35, was spotted by Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin on Route 6 around 8:30 a.m., driving with an expired inspection certificate, said Capt. William McNamara.
During the stop, Irwin discovered that Power was in possession of OxyContin, without a valid prescription, McNamara added.

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- It's been years since anyone has seen Samantha Kibalo, who disappeared from Suffern in January 2001 with her mother, Ann Yermak Kibalo, who did not have custody of the girl. Kibalo's estranged husband had been awarded custody of their daughter after their divorce. Ann Kibalo was to return Samantha to her father in Suffern on Feb. 3, 2001, but failed to do so, according to a missing person's notice issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Since that day, the state Missing Person Clearinghouse, the FBI and local police, have been searching for Samantha.

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Most people don't think about being ripped off when they are pumping iron at the gym, but according to the Clarkstown Police, gym locker rooms have become a target for thieves.Police said that while gym members are busy working out, thieves are entering various gyms around the area for the purpose of gaining access to the locker room areas.
Once inside, they proceed to either pull or clip locks from lockers and steal wallets, purses, credit/debit cards, drivers' licenses, money, cellphones and other items, police said.

Memorial services have been scheduled for Putnam County Sheriff's senior investigator Mark R. Gilmore, who passed away unexpectedly Thursday while exercising at a gym in Dutchess.
A wake will be held in his honor from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 6, at the Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Ave., in Carmel.

Suspects On Loose After Armed Robbery At Wireless Voice Store In Tarrytown

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Friday around 10:20 a.m. at a Wireless Voice Store at 15 North Broadway in Tarrytown, said Lt. John Barbelet.
According to Barbelet, two men walked into the store and approached a lone employee with a gun and began taking merchandise, Barbelet said.
The two men, who are known to police, got away with numerous items, before fleeing the area, he added.
