West Haverstraw Man Charged With Sex Abuse Of Child ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Rockland man was arrested on Thursday for committing acts of sexual abuse against a child under the age of 13 and for endangering the welfare of a child, according to Haverstraw police. Luis Rivera, 57, of West Haverstraw was charged following a lengthy investigation into the abuse, said Detective Sgt. George Lutz. Lutz said the department is asking for the public's help in locating any other possible victims of abuse who may have had contact with Rivera. Store Clerk, Customer Fight Off Armed Robber In Spring Valley, Police Say ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A store clerk and a customer were able to fight off a Rockland man who attacked a 7-Eleven clerk with a knife during a robbery on May 13, Spring Valley police said. Overturned Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Route 35 In South Salem SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- South Salem firefighters barely had to step out of their front door to help with an overturned vehicle crash on Route 35 on Tuesday. The crash, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., left the vehicle smoking on its side, Chief Avery Scott said. The lone occupant of the vehicle was outside the vehicle when firefighters arrived and was treated by Westchester EMS, Scott said. Bear On The Loose In Nyack ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A day after a wandering black bear was tranquilized by a biologist from the state Department of Conservation in Nyack on Thursday and taken to the Catskills to be released, another bear has been spotted in the Orangetown area. Woman Weaving In, Out Of Traffic Was Drunk, Orangetown PD Says ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A West Haverstraw woman caught driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic on Saturday, May 20, in Pearl River was driving drunk, Orangetown Police said. Hospitalized Victims Of Fatal Peekskill Pedestrian Crash Improving Two people injured in a horrific car crash in Peekskill on Saturday, May 27 that killed one woman, remain in the hospital but are improving, according to the Peekskill Police.
