More Mosquitos With West Nile Virus Found In Western Mass: Health Officials Massachusetts health officials have urged caution after more mosquitoes tested positive for the potentially fatal West Nile Virus in Hampshire County. Rare Endangered Plant Found Growing In Western Mass For First Time Botanists rejoice. A plant that has never been seen in Massachusetts before was spotted growing in Berkshire County. Meet the pine-drops plant. Amateur botanist Syke van der Laan discovered while hiking in the Berkshires recently. Police Officers Crash Into Each Other Responding To Call In Eastern Mass Two Middlesex County police officers were taken to area hospitals Thursday, Aug. 5, after crashing into one other. Wilmington police were responding to a call when the cruisers crashed just after noon at the intersection of High Street and Linda Road, authorities said. Both cruisers were marked. Driving On Sidewalk Leads To Multiple Felonies In Worcester A traffic stop for minor traffic violations led to multiple major felonies in Worcester on Wednesday, Aug. 2, authorities said. Miguel Romero-Rivera was pulled over on Millbury Street just before 6:45 p.m. after officers spotted him riding a motorcycle without a helmet or license plate, and he was driving on the sidewalk, Worcester police said. 1 Man Killed, Another Injured In Eastern Mass Attack Police in Norfolk County are investigating a late Wednesday night, Aug. 2, attack that left one man dead and another person injured, authorities said. Marlborough police received a 911 call just after 10:30 p.m. about a fight inside an apartment at Stone Gate Apartments on St. Ives Way, authorities said. Body Found In Boston Park; Police Investigating Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a man's body was found unattended in a park in Boston. Troopers were called to Richardson Park at 735 Columbia Road around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. Woman Embezzled $1.3M From Eastern Mass Business: Police A 36-year-old Norfolk County woman was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 2, and charged with stealing $1.3 million from her former employer, authorities said. Ashley Sumner, of Weymouth, is charged with larceny over $1,200, two counts of improper use of a credit card over $1,200, four counts of identity fraud, and one count of money laundering, Holbrook police said. Offensive Facebook Post On Police Page Is Hacker Hoax, Central Mass Chief Says An incendiary post on a Worcester County police department's Facebook page about trans people was not written by an officer, the chief promised on Wednesday, Aug. 2.
