Hampden County resident Kelvin Cruz-Lopez, age 23, of Chicopee, was killed around 10:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3 during a shooting on East Street, said the Hampden County District Attorney's Office. Fairfield County Man Found High Dancing In Middle Of Roadway With Tree Branch, Police Say A Fairfield County man has been arrested after he was found with a large tree branch dancing in the middle of a roadway. David Gonzalez, age 31, of Stratford, was arrested by Fairfield Police when he was found dressed all in black in the middle of the 500 block of Post Road, said Sgt. Michael Stahl, of the Fairfield Police. Fire Breaks Out At Suffolk County Home Firefighters battled a house fire on Long Island in which no one was injured. The fire broke out around 7:40 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, on Huyler Court in Setauket, said the Suffolk County Police. Firefighters, who found flames at the front door and in the basement, were able to put out the fire within a short time, officials said.  Police said the fire has been deemed non-criminal in nature. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Police in Hampden County responded to the incident around 6:50 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, when the Springfield Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 0-100 block of Hayden Ave.  According to Ryan Walsh, a spokesman for the Springfield Police, the victim was found near the intersection of Cambridge and Burr streets. One Hospitalized After Crash Involving School Bus In Springfield One person was injured in Western Massachusetts during a multi-vehicle crash with a school bus. The crash took place in Hampden County around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, in Springfield on Chestnut Street, according to the Springfield Fire Department. When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they found one passenger who had to be extricated from a passenger vehicle and taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the department said. There were no additional injuries reported to the passengers on the school bus.
