CT FedEx Employees Accused Of Stealing 20 Smartphones
Two FedEx employees have been charged with allegedly stealing 20 smartphones from a shipping box on a conveyor belt.
Simon M. Muriithi, age 18, of South Windsor, and Tyshawn Thomas, age 19, of East Hartford, both employees at the FedEx distribution center in South Windsor were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
According to Sergeant Mark Cleverdon, of the South Winsor Police, the two were observed by FedEx security stealing smartphones from a shipping box on their conveyor belt.
In total, 20 phones were taken, totaling approximately $8,000, police said.

The attorney for Brain Laundrie's family says there is a high probability the remains found in a Florida nature reserve are those of their son.
Steven Bertolino told Daily Voice on Thursday, Oct. 21, that "the probability was high, that it is Brian's remains" found by the FBI.

Area Man Charged With Sexual Abuse Of Juvenile, Police Say
An area man has been charged with engaging in "periodic unlawful sexual conduct" with a minor.
Douglas R. Whitaker, age 68, of the Town of Ulster, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and charged with sexual abuse-related charges.
According to Lt. Joseph Sciutto, of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, deputies began investigating Whitaker after receiving a report on Monday, Oct. 18, alleging he engaged in periodic unlawful sexual conduct with a juvenile victim since the spring of 2020 when the victim was under 17 years old.
