37-Year-Old Charged With DWI After Man Killed, Woman Critically Injured In Long Island Crash Police have charged a Long Island resident with driving while intoxicated following a crash that killed a man and critically injured a woman. It happened around 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 in Sayville. Man Airlifted Following Two-Vehicle Crash In Area A 34-year-old man was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash. It happened around 11:20 a.m., Monday, Sept. 6, in Dutchess County on Route 9G in Red Hook. The man was driving a 1986 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Route 9G approaching the Rokeby Road intersection when he was hit by an Irvington woman driving a 2011 Toyota passenger car who failed to yield the right of way, according to the Red Hook Police. One Killed In Single-Vehicle Taconic Parkway Crash One person was killed during a single-vehicle crash on the Taconic State Parkway. It happened around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, in Putnam County in the right lane southbound in Kent, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.  The roadway was closed for several hours following the crash for an investigation. 29-Year-Old From Westchester Dies After Crash In Fairfield County A 29-year-old from Westchester County is dead following a crash in Fairfield County.  It happened around 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 6, on Route 8 in Shelton, said the Connecticut State Police.  According to state police, Erzsebet Menczel, age 45, of Derby, was driving a Honda CR-V and crashed into John Mateo Oliver, of Yonkers, who was driving a BMW motorcycle. Man Accused Of Firing Weapon From Vehicle, Police Say A man was apprehended just minutes after allegedly firing a weapon from his vehicle on a street in the area. The incident took place on Monday, Sept. 6, when the City of Poughkeepsie Police received a report of a shot fired from a vehicle in the area of Lent Street. According to Det. Lt. Connecticut Man Shot Dead On City Street, Police Say Police in Connecticut are asking the public for help in the shooting death of a 30-year-old man on a city street. The shooting took place around 5:30 a.m., Sept. 5 in New Haven County. Western Massachusetts Man Sentenced For Extortion A Western Massachusetts man was sentenced in federal court for collecting on an extension of credit by threatening and beating the victim. Hampden County resident Anthony J. Scibelli, age 52, of Springfield, was sentenced on Friday, Sept. 3, to six months in prison and two years of supervised release, said the US Attorney's Office. Scibelli was also ordered to pay restitution of $200 and forfeiture of $1,300.  In April, Scibelli pleaded guilty to one count of collecting on an extension of credit by extortionate means. The $27,303 ticket in the midday Friday, Sept. 3 drawing was sold in Rockland County at ShopRite Liquors on Middletown Road in Pearl River, according to New York Lottery officials. Take-5 numbers are drawn from numbers one through 39 twice a day at 2:30 and 10:30 p.m.  The winner has up to a year to claim the prize. The winning numbers were not released.
