She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Fairfield County Car Thief Rams Vehicles, Drives Into Oncoming Traffic, Police Say Three Fairfield County men have been arrested after allegedly crashing into several police vehicles at the Westfield Trumbull Mall as they attempted to flee in a stolen vehicle. During the incident, which took place on Monday, July 26, Dominique Reid, age 23, of Bridgeport, fled in the stolen Audi to avoid immediate capture, however, Hector Delgado, age 24, and Xavier Rondon, age 29, also of Bridgeport were immediately taken into police custody in the Westfield Mall parking lot, said Lieutenant Brian D. Body Found In Naugatuck River Police have pulled a body from the Naugatuck River in Connecticut. The discovery was made around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, when a hiker reported what looked like a human body in the water, said the Naugatuck Police. Emergency personnel located the body in New Haven County in the area of Platts Mill Road and Radnor Avenue and confirmed the person was dead. 96-Year-Old Man Caused Fatal CT Motorcycle Crash, Police Say Police have arrested a 96-year-old man who they say caused a deadly motorcycle crash in Connecticut earlier this month. Peter Acampora turned himself in to police on Monday, July 26 in connection with the fatal New Haven County motorcycle crash that took place on Sunday, July 18 in East Haven. Intoxicated Fairfield County Man Grabs, Yells At Bank Employees, Police Say A Fairfield County man has been arrested for allegedly harassing and grabbing employees at an area bank. Martin Marusak, age 49, was arrested on Monday, July 26, when Greenwich Police responded to the Greenwich Bank & Trust at 1103 East Putnam Ave., for a report of a man grabbing the bank manager. Escaped Horse Killed After Being Hit By Car On Busy Area Roadway A horse was killed after being hit by a car after it escaped its corral by jumping a fence onto a busy area roadway. The horse, which was killed on Route 202 in Rockland on Monday, July 26, lived on a farm in a more rural section of Ramapo, police said. Ramapo Police Lt. Tom Dolan said Wednesday, July 28, the horse escaped the corral about 4:30 a.m. and ended up on the roadway where it was hit and killed instantly. Mosquitoes From Fairfield County Test Positive For West Nile Virus It's time to get out the mosquito repellant with the discovery of the pesky insects carrying the West Nile virus in five areas in Connecticut, including three in Fairfield County. According to the Connecticut Department of Health, the virus-carrying mosquitoes were discovered last week in Fairfield County in Greenwich, Darien, and Stamford, in New Haven County in New Haven, and in Waterford in New London County. Beloved 'Bear 211' Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Fairfield County A much-beloved black bear nicknamed "211" after its tag who brought a smile to thousands of faces had to be put down by police after it was hit by a vehicle that left the scene. CT Teen Accused Of Sexually Assault Of Young Girl, Police Say An 18-year-old Connecticut teen has been arrested on two active warrants for charges of sexual contact with a child under the age of 16. On Friday, July 23, South Windsor Police arrested Hartford County resident Alrick Bartley, age 18, of East Hartford, for two incidents that both took place at Truth Baptist Church, authorities said.
