Two Nabbed In One Week In Fairfield County For Sexual Assault, Police Say A pair of child sex abuse cases in Fairfield County have been closed with the arrests of two men. Officers from the Stamford Police Special Victims Unit traveled to Los Angeles, to extradite 35-year-old Fredy A. Orellana back to the state for his part in a two-year prolonged sexual assault of a child under the age of 10 years old, said Stamford PD Captain Diedrich Hohn. The investigation began after the victim was seen at a hospital with a sexually transmitted disease. Area Woman Files Suit Saying Brand Of Covered Pretzels Aren't The Real Deal A New York woman who knows her stuff when it comes to fudge is suing a manufacturer of fudge-covered pretzels, claiming it's not the real deal. Dutchess County resident Jessica Spurck of Poughkeepsie filed the 17--page class-action suit after looking at the ingredients of Flipz white fudge-covered pretzels and found that the company which makes the popular snack, Demet's Candy Company, provided "false, deceptive and misleading" information on its packaging, the suit said. Three People, Including Juvenile, Nabbed On Gun Charges During Western Mass Stop, Police Say Three Western Massachusetts residents, including a juvenile, have been arrested on gun charges after police allegedly found a firearm, stun gun, and shell casings during a traffic stop. The incident took place around 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, when an alert was sent to officers of a suspect vehicle heading east on Boston Road, in Springfield. Pedestrian Killed Crossing Busy Long Island Roadway Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian on Long Island. The crash took place around 8:50 p.m., Thursday, July 1, in Manorville. The pedestrian was struck by a man driving a 2016 Mazda traveling northbound on County Road 111, said the Suffolk County Police. The victim has not yet been identified. This is a developing story. State Police To Crack Down On Drunk, Drugged Driving Over July 4th Weekend With the July 4th holiday just days away, New York State Police announced troopers will increase patrols and crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions during the weekend. State troopers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and target reckless and aggressive driving statewide to keep highways safe during one of the busiest summer holidays for travel.
