She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Man Nabbed For Tire Dumping Incidents In Westchester County Parks Police say officers arrested a man as he was allegedly preparing to dump a load of tires on a county parkland in Westchester County. Jose Rivera-Osorio, age 38, of the Bronx, was arrested early Tuesday, May 25, after Yonkers Police observed a U-Haul truck near the entrance to county property off Midland Avenue, said Kieran O'Leary of the Westchester County Police. Firefighters Battle Four-Alarm Blaze At Long Island Pizzeria Firefighters are on the scene of a four-alarm fire at a popular Long Island pizzeria. The blaze in Long Beach, at Sorrento's at 255 West Park Ave., and several adjoining buildings, started around 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 26. As of 8:30 a.m., the Long Beach Fire Department said the fire is "under control," with all visible fires extinguished. Raging Fire Breaks Out At Long Island Funeral Home A Long Island funeral home was destroyed during a raging fire overnight. The fire started just before 11 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, in Suffolk County at the Giove Funeral Home located on Route 25 in Selden, said the Selden Fire Department. A family who lives above the funeral home was awakened by its two dogs who were barking frantically. The family then found smoke and fire in the apartment and was able to escape without injury, the department said. Long Island Man Charged For Fatal Overdose, Police Say A local man has been arrested in connection with the alleged fatal overdose of a Long Island resident. Joseph Demm, age 29, of Hicksville, was arrested around 4:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, said the Nassau County Police. According to Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, an investigation into a fatal overdose of a Nassau County resident led to the arrest of Demm. Demm was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 26 in Mineola.

Former Western Mass Priest Dies From Covid-19 On Day He Was To Be Charged For Murder, DA Says A former Western Mass Catholic priest who was about to be charged with the 1972 murder of a 13-year-old boy died from COVID-19 on the day he was to be charged. Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said that the case against Richard Lavigne in the murder of Danny Croteau, had officially been closed. Gulluni said during a news conference on Monday, May 23 that the former priest and child molester was the only person to ever be publicly named as a suspect, though he died before he could be charged. IDs Released For CT Man, Woman Killed After Being Hit By Two Vehicles, Police Say The identities have been released for two pedestrians hit and killed in Connecticut. Hartford County residents Bianka Romero, age 21, of Windsor, and Marc Plaza, age 22, of East Hartford, were found dead in East Hartford shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, May 24. Hiker Dies After Falling 20 Feet At Hudson Valley Preserve, Police Say A 31-year-old hiker died after he lost his footing while reaching for a piece of equipment and fell more than 20 feet at a Hudson Valley preserve. Evrim Cabuk, of Brooklyn, was found dead around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, in Ulster County when New York State Police responded to the Mohonk Preserve in the vicinity of Undercliff Trail in the town of Gardiner for a report of a man with a head injury, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Man Drowns While Paddleboarding With Kids On Long Island A 39-year-old drowned while paddleboarding with his two young children on Long Island. Jing Li, of Flushing, Queens, was paddleboarding with his two young children on Hempstead Lake in Hempstead at approximately 5:45 p.m., Sunday, May 23, when the paddleboard capsized, and Li went underwater, said the New York State Police.
