She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Man Busted With Pot After Crash In Fairfield County, Police Say A Fairfield County man was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance after crashing his vehicle into a wooded area. Kyle Mangan, age 27, of Stamford, was arrested on Wednesday, May 19 after New Canaan Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Talmadge Hill Road, said Lieutenant Jason Ferraro of New Canaan PD. Responding officers located the vehicle off the road in the woods, the vehicle had rolled over and was resting on the passenger side of the vehicle. Area College Student Charged With Rape Admits To Sexual Abuse, DA Says A college student in the Hudson Valley who was charged with rape has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. Anthony Pennachio, age 19, of Brooklyn, a student in Orange County at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse in connection with an alleged rape that occurred during a party at the college last February. Man Charged With Rapes Of Children In Northern Westchester, Putnam A Westchester County man has been arrested for allegedly raping a child under the age of 15 twice in two different cities. New York State Police arrested Fabian Huirachocha Barbecho, age 36, of Yonkers, on Tuesday, May 18, in conjunction with the Putnam County Child Advocacy Center, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Barbecho was arrested after state police received a law enforcement tip, and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Cortlandt began investigating two instances of alleged rape, Hicks said. Woman Stabbed Multiple Times, Attacker Tased At CT Hotel, Police Say A Connecticut woman was stabbed multiple times and the attacker had to be tased twice by police before he could be subdued. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m., Thursday, May 20, when the Windsor Locks Police Department received a call about a stabbing at the Candlewood Suites, said Lieutenant Paul Cherniack of Windsor Locks PD. Body Of Missing CT Mom Found, Police Say The body of a missing Connecticut mother who hasn't been seen in 12 days has been found. Jessica Edwards of South Windsor, who has been missing for 12 days, was found Friday, May 21 in an East Hartford neighborhood. Firefighters Battle Blazing High-Rise Parking Garage Fire In Fairfield County Firefighters were able to extinguish a high-rise roof fire at a construction site in Fairfield County before the whole building was destroyed. The blaze broke out around 10:25 a.m., Friday, May 21 in Stamford at the Smyth Building Construction site on the corner of Tresser and Washington boulevards. Fatal, Multiple-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Busy Area Roadway, Police Say A busy roadway in the area is closed in both directions due to a multiple-vehicle crash. The crash took place around 12:30 p.m., Friday, May 21 in Sullivan County on Route 42 in the area of South Fallsburg, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office said. Currently, Route 42 is closed in both directions between South Fallsburg and Fallsburg. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes, as the closure will be indefinite. I-684 Lane Reopens After Serious Crash In Westchester County This story has been updated. A stretch of I-684 has reopened after a serious crash. The right lane on the southbound side in the area of I-287 in Harrison had been closed due to a motor vehicle crash with injuries that happened early Friday afternoon, May 21.
