Water Main Break Shuts Down Roads: Berkeley Heights PD A water main break has caused roads to be shutdown in Berkeley Heights on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 31, police said on Facebook. The break, which sent water overflowing into the street, occurred in the middle of the intersection of Diamond Hill Road and Valley Road, police said. All roadways to the intersection have been completely shutdown due to water damage, police said.  Diamond Hill Road, New Providence Road, and Valley Road will remain closed until at least 8 p.m., police said.

Abdush Sharif, 36, Kevin Rogers, 46 and Dashawn Kitchen were arrested on Friday, Jan. 26 in Newark and charged with violation of regulatory provisions related to firearms in connection to the fatal shooting of Hassan Sharif, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. Morris County Man Killed In NY Snowmobile Crash: Police A 56-year-old Kinnelon man was killed in a snowmobile crash in upstate New York on the early morning of Wednesday, Jan. 31, authorities said. Kelly Rozansky was traveling west on a snowmobile trail when he lost control of his 2021 Ski-Doo snowmobile, striking a tree, Ronald Johnson, the police chief for the Town of Webb, said.  Members of his party found him deceased soon after and first responders arrived at 12:40 a.m., Johnson said. Johnson said speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

On May 13, 2019, Kenneth Thomas, a 31-year-old Newark resident was gunned down by Ryan Mwangi eight times while sitting in his car,  Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said.
