Car Fire Brings Traffic To Standstill On Route 18 A car fire brought traffic to a standstill Monday evening on Route 18 in Monmouth County. The fire was reported near Exit 25 in Marlboro, backing traffic up for miles on the northbound side as of 6 p.m. Initial and unconfirmed reports say the driver had fireworks in his trunk.

Rahway Brothers Killed In Irvington Homicide Authorities are investigating a double homicide in Irvington. Malik A. McCallister, 38, and Tarik R. Barnes, 42, lived together in Rahway and were both shot July 4 on Montrose Terrace around midnight, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers said. .McCallister was pronounced dead at Beth Israel at 12:30 a.m. and Barnes was pronounced dead at 2:09 a.m. at University Hospital Monday. Man Attacks Brother With Knife In York County, Authorities Say A 33-year-old man attacked his brother with a knife in York County Sunday afternoon, authorities said. Newberry police officers responding to a house on the 600 block of Hill Point Drive in Goldsboro Borough were told by a woman that her 30-year-old husband was attacked by his brother, Newberry Township police said. The victim suffered injuries to his hand and face, police said. The suspect, Jeffrey S. Kelly, was charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses, and transported to York County Central Booking pending arraignment.

Hotel Guest From Alabama Had Handgun Loaded With 16-Round Mag, Secaucus Police Say Police seized a handgun loaded with a 16-round magazine from a hotel guest in Secaucus, authorities said. Quinterious Jones, 23, of Alabama, was stopped by Secaucus Police Officer David Delseni in the Red Roof Inn parking lot on the Meadowlands Parkway, when the officer learned Jones had a weapon, Police Chief Dennis Miller said. A search of Jones' vehicle turned up a loaded Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun, loaded with a 16 round magazine -- and also had a round in the chamber, police said. NJ Bank Robber Busted With Hot Pink Exploding Dye Pack Arrested, Police Say The man who had a hot pink dye pack explode on him moments after robbing a Newark bank was arrested Monday, authorities said. City resident Esau Grant walked into the Springfield Avenue Capital One Bank Saturday morning and slipped the teller a note saying, "I have a gun give me all the money from the register please, and no one will get hurt," Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. 16-Year-Old Boy Shot In Head Dies, Another Injured In Trenton Authorities have identified the 16-year-old boy shot and killed overnight in Trenton. Dion Ellis was found with a gunshot wound to his head on Stuyvesant Avenue around 12:45 a.m., the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said. A second victim, also 16, was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, and reportedly in stable condition as of Monday. PA Firefighter Who Died In Line Of Duty Was Beloved Hockey Coach With Big Plans A Pennsylvania volunteer firefighter died in the line of duty Sunday night. Sean W. DeMuynck was found unresponsive on the third floor of the Rosedale Avenue home in Wynnewood, Montgomery County. DeMuynck was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center at 11:30 p.m., where he was pronounced dead at 12:22 a.m. DeMuynck previously worked as a video coach for the Canada-based Windsor Spitfires hockey team from 2013 to 2017, and won a championship with the team in 2017, the organization said. Dauphin County Inmate Dies A 64-year-old Dauphin County inmate died at the hospital 10 days after suffering a medical event in prison, authorities said. David W. White was hospitalized following the incident on June 23, the county said in a release. There was no indication that he was assaulted, and his medical history is included in the investigation, authorities said. White was in prison due to drug-related felonies and died Saturday morning.
