Wawa Shootout: Police Release Details In Terrifying Mercer County Incident Police have release some details in a shootout that occurred inside of a Mercer County Wawa store early Sunday, Jan. 15. An argument broke out between patrons at the Silvia Street store in Ewing around 3:25 a.m., at which point workers asked them to leave, police said. One person stayed inside of the store and shot at someone who had left but was coming back inside, police said. The person re-entering returned fire, however, no one was struck. The incident remains under police investigation.

Speeding Car Thief Kills 33-Year-Old Driver In Philadelphia: Police A 33-year-old man died after being struck by a speeding, stolen vehicle Saturday, Jan. 14 in Philadelphia, authorities said. Charges were pending as of Sunday for the driver of the 2020 Kia Optima, that was heading north on 5th Street when it struck a 2016 Toyota Carolla on Lehigh Avenue around 9:50 p.m., a spokesperson for the city's police department said. The Toyota driver was entrapped and pronounced dead at the scene at 10 p.m., while the occupants of the Optima were hospitalized at Temple with minor injuries. Ex-Marine Indicted In South Jersey Bar Parking Lot Slaying: Report A 25-year-old former US Marine from Farnklinville was indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury last month on charges stemming from the September 2022 bar parking lot shooting that left a 31-year-old man dead, NJ Advance Media reports. Victim Stayed Alive Just Long Enough To ID His Killer — Who's Now Been Convicted: Prosecutor Waleik McCollum stayed alive just long enough to identify his killer: Zahir “Peewee” Moore, authorities in Essex County said. Pedestrian Killed In Jersey Shore Crosswalk Was Guyanese Swimmer A 34-year-old swimmer visiting from Guyana — or the "Land of Many Waters" — was struck and killed by a vehicle while in a crosswalk in Freehold Township, authorities said. Robert Taylor was struck by a southbound driver on Route 9 at Schibanoff Lane on Monday, Jan. 9 around 7 a.m., according to authorities and those who knew Taylor. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor was a mentor with the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association. Teen Friends Killed In Fairfax Crash Identified Two teen best friends killed in a Fairfax County crash earlier this week have been identified. Ashlyn Brotemarkle and Ariana Haftsavar, both 16, died when the driver of the Lexus SUV they were riding in lost control and went off the roadway on Lee Chapel Road, overturning onto its roof around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, according to authorities and the victims' loved ones.
