Man Dies Removing Christmas Lights In Fall From Ladder In Union County: Police A 62-year-old man died when he fall from a ladder removing Christmas lights in Union County over the weekend, authorities said. The man landed on a concrete walkway and hit his head outside of his Ray Avenue home in Union Township around 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, township police said. There were apparently no witnesses at the scene, so it was unclear high how he was when he fell, police tell NJ Advance Media. The unnamed victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Teacher Who Sexually Assaulted Teen Hudson County Students Gets Prison Time A 46-year-old teacher was sentenced to time behind bars for sexually assaulted two teen students in Jersey City, authorities announced. Francisco Realpe, of Hoboken, was sentenced on Jan. 6 to concurrent four-year sentences in New Jersey state prison for two counts of sexual assault that he pleaded guilty to last June, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Pickup On Tonnelle Avenue: Police A pedestrian who was struck by a pickup truck early Monday, Jan. 9 in North Bergen has died, police said. Rahway Driver Dead In Elizabeth Crash One person died in a crash at an Elizabeth intersection over the weekend, authorities said. A Pennsylvania man was in a Jeep Gladiator at the intersection of Route 1&9 and Maple Avenue, when the light turned green and he drove east around 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, city spokeswoman Ruby Contreras said. Art Teacher ODs In Front Of NJ Students: Police A 57-year-old art teacher was charged with drug-related crimes after authorities in Union County said he overdosed in a classroom.
