Man Killed In New Year's Day Weehawken Fire A 69-year-old man was killed in a Weehawken fire New Year's Day, authorities said. The blaze broke out on the first floor of a building at 708 JFK Blvd. East around 10:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, preliminary reports show. The victim was pulled from the single-unit fire and later pronounced dead at Palisade Medical Center. The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force has determined that the fire does not appear suspicious at this time, however, the origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. No further information was immediately available.

Fatal Crash Closes Pulaski Highway In Joppa A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car New Year's Day closing the Pulaski Highway in Joppatowne. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on the westbound side near Joppa Road, firefighters said. Three other patients were hospitalized for treatment. It was not clear if they were pedestrians or vehicle occupants. No further information was provided.

Driver Accused In Deadly Secret Service Pursuit Once Robbed MD Gas Station At Gunpoint: Reports A 35-year-old man who once apparently robbed a Maryland gas station at gunpoint has been charged with murder and related offenses for killing a female pedestrian and critically injuring another while fleeing members of the US Secret Service last week near the White House, authorities announced. Drowned North Jersey Fishermen Identified Authorities have identified the two fishermen who drowned New Year's Weekend at Split Rock Reservoir. The bodies of Stanislaw Grezesik, 64, of Clifton, and Tadeusz Florczuk, 76, of Passaic, went on the ice fishing trip at Split Rock Reservoir in Kinnelon on Friday, Dec. 30 — but never returned home, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Driver Who Killed Grandmother During Wild Pursuit Identified By Police In Philadelphia Police have identified the erratic driver who was fleeing police when he struck several vehicles, killing a 78-year-old woman in one last week in Philadelphia. Jovan Lowe is wanted for murder, homicide by vehicle and more in connection with the crash on Wednesday, Dec. 28 in Mantua, city police said.
