100+ Lakewood Yeshiva Students Home With Mysterious Illness -- Not COVID: Report More than 100 young men from various yeshivas across the Lakewood area were home this week with a mysterious illness -- and it's not COVID, The Lakewood Scoop reports. Approximately 50 students from each Jewish school came down with a fever and weakness last Thursday, and have been bedridden ever since, the outlet said.  They all apparently tested negative for COVID-19. Newark Officer Shot, Suspect In Custody: Police A police officer was hospitalized after being shot in Newark Tuesday night, officials confirmed. The officer was rushed to University Hospital for treatment of a non life-threatening gunshot wound suffered near 14th Avenue and 14th Street around 8:35 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. He was in stable condition as of 9:30 p.m.  A suspect was in custody and a gun was recovered, authorities said.  The incident remains under investigation. No further information was available.

Leon Howard was left critical following that blaze that broke out in his apartment in the Berry Gardens at 92 Danforth Ave., around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 8, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. NJ's First Shake Shack With Drive Thru Coming To Route 17 New Jersey's first drive-thru Shake Shack is set to open in Bergen County, according to multiple news reports. The burger and shake joint was approved by the Hasbrouck Heights Planning Board on Dec. 1 for the site of the shuttered Mt. Fuji restaurant, which is set to be demolished. A Shake Shack spokesperson confirmed the 193 Route 17 drive-thru site, slated to open in 2022. It will take approximately six months for the restaurant to be built, according to TapInto. Jersey City Sex Assault Case Under Investigation Authorities in Hudson County are investigating a sexual assault that occurred last month in Jersey City, they said. The 18-year-old woman told police in Union City she was walking near Weldon Street and Dekalb Avenue in Jersey City around 12 p.m. on Nov. 30, when a male approached her from behind, sexually assaulted her and ran away, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
