Tappan Company Among Leading Producers Of Jamaican-Style Foods TAPPAN, N.Y. -- Tappan-based Caribbean Food Delights is part of a pair of companies that manufactures Jamaican-style patties. The other is Royal Caribbean Bakery in Mount Vernon. The two began as one fried chicken shop on Dyre Avenue in the Bronx. FDR Agency Funded Poughkeepsie School Project POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Violet Avenue School in Poughkeepsie and two others, Hyde Park Elementary and Haviland Middle School in Hyde Park, were built within 1939 and 1940 via Franklin D. Roosevelt's Public Works Administration, according to a report by the Poughkeepsie Journal. The PWA made contracts with independent construction firms to add more people to work on projects, Jeffrey Urbin, education specialist at the Franklin D.
