Tarrytown Urgent Care Physician Presented With Posthumous Award TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The Dr. Leonard Finkelstein Excellence Award for 2015 was recently presented posthumously to Dr. Sean Misciagna, of Tarrytown, a Westmed Medical Group urgent care physician. Misciagna joined Westmed in March 2008, and died in November 2015 at the age of 36 after battling cancer for more than four years. The award is named for Dr. Leonard Finkelstein, a founding and admired member of Westmed who was known for his dedication to his patients and the respect he showed his colleagues. Irvington Middle School Students Present Original Movies At Film Festival IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Sixth-grade students at Irvington Middle School got to present their original movies recently at the fifth-annual Irvington Middle School Film Festival.The movie premiere on Dec. 23 featured a red carpet and popcorn sponsored by the PTSA.  Under the direction of teachers Karen Acrish, Jessica Doherty, Carol LaBella, Judy Nadler and Amy Panitz, the students participated in a unit called “Digital Storytelling: A Dynamic Look at Narratives.”  At the film festival, they viewed all 45 films they and their peers had created over the month before breaking out into smaller groups…

Overtime Costs Rise 38 Percent In Nanuet Schools NANUET, N.Y. -- Facilities maintenance has resulted in overtime increases of 38 percent for the staff of the Nanuet schools' buildings and grounds department, according to lohud.com.The information came in a report that attributes the increase to "lack of control and oversight," but school officials disagree, lohud.com said. Ex-Stamford Cop Pleads Not Guilty To Larceny Charge STAMFORD, Conn. -- The ex-Stamford policemen who resigned in December pleaded not guilty to a felony larceny charge in court in Stamford on Monday, Jan. 11, the Stamford Advocate reported. Donald Chen told investigators he was in Taiwan — when he was actually in Hawaii — after the commander of the reserves contacted the Stamford Police Department on Dec. 8 looking for Chen, the Stamford Advocate reported.  Chen is charged taking his police pay when he was supposed to be with the U.S. Army Reserves, but was on vacation instead, the Advocate said.
