Norwalk's Garage Gallery Winter Exhibit Is Fashion Forward NORWALK, Conn. -- The new winter exhibit at the Maritime Garage Gallery opens this week in Norwalk. It is a collaboration with the New England Design Fashion & Design Association and runs Jan. 14 to April 1. There will be an opening reception Thursday, Jan. 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the gallery. Bridgeport Schools Begin Search For Permanent Superintendent BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport Board of Education will begin a search to secure a permanent superintendent, according to the Connecticut Post.At a meeting Monday board member Howard Gardner said, "We need a long-term plan," the Connecticut Post reported. The search reportedly could take 18 months - until the June 2017 ending to the contract of Fran Rabinowitz, the interim school superintendent, reported the Connecticut Post. Suffern Debates Reserve Duty Pay For Police Officer SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A Suffern police officer who also serves in the Air Force Reserve will reportedly not get his entire salary during a 90-day deployment to the Mideast, according to lohud.com.The village Board of Trustees decided Jan. 4 that Bill Simurra, 27, will get his pay for 30 days, but not for the remaining 60, said lohud.com. Kingston Man Charged With Abandoning Dog In Cold KINGSTON, N.Y. -- A Kingston man has been arrested for allegedly leaving a dog out in the freezing cold since Jan. 1, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. Ryan McIntosh, 30, was charged with agriculture and Markets Law Misdemeanors of Abandonment of an Animal and Animal Cruelty, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office was contacted Jan. 5 by the Town of Rochester Animal Control Officer reporting an abandoned pitbull that was located on Rock Hill Road, in the Town of Rochester, according to the sheriff's office.
