Teens Invited To Henna Workshop At Bronxville Library
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- A henna workshop for teens is set for Monday, Jan. 11, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Bronxville Library.Body artist Margie Nugent will teach participants about henna designs, and the history, traditions and safety of henna tattoos. The project will involve first learning how to make a henna design on a cookie with chocolate. Henna designs can last one to four weeks. The workshop is geared to ages 12 and up. Landon Proposes 2% Hike In Westport School Budget
WESTPORT, Conn. -- School Superintendent Elliott Landon presented his last budget proposal, reflecting a 2 percent increase in spending over the existing budget for Westport schools, the Westport News said.Landon, who is retiring at the end of the school year, made the budget proposal Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Westport News reported. Small-Group Home Opens In Waldwick
WALDWICK, N.J. -- A group home housing six women with disabilities has opened on Wyckoff Avenue in Waldwick, according to NorthJersey.com. The residents will receive 24-hour care, NorthJersey.com said. The women used to receive care at the Eastern Christian Children Retreat, a nonprofit organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, NorthJersey.com said. Bogota Police Woman Settles Lawsuit For About $1.1M
BOGOTA, N.J. -- About half of a $2.25 million settlement will be given to former borough police officer, Regina Tasca, who was fired in 2012, according to NorthJersey.com. In December, the Bogota council majority agreed on an undisclosed settlement amount to be paid through insurance and municipal funds, the Daily Voice reported. The council fired Tasca in 2012 following a pair of on-duty incidents more than a year earlier. Police Seek Bridgeport Car Jacker After He Releases Abducted Woman
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Police are looking for a Hispanic man who allegedly stole a car with a woman sitting in it in Bridgeport on Wednesday, Jan. 6, according to the Connecticut Post.The woman was reportedly unharmed when the car thief took a Mazda belonging to her grandson early in the evening on Perth Street, the Connecticut Post said.
