Andrew Cuomo 's administration  made its opposition known at this week's Atomic Safety and Licensing Board hearing on the application of Entergy Nuclear Operations Inc. for relicensing the Indian Point Nuclear Facilities. In a Nov. 16 letter to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the administration's objections included Entergy's lack of an adequate safety, an evacuation plan for dealing with a major disaster so close to New York City and the company's "woefully inadequate" aging management plan for the plant. Town Saves Money On Road Salt, Beekman Highway Superintendent Says BEEKMAN, N.Y. -- Beekman Highway Superintendent Tony Coviello recently released the following information:  The 2015-16 New York State Office of General Service Road Salt Contract will jump from $62.73 per ton to $89.96 per ton, a 43.4 percent increase. Highway superintendents allocate their road salt needs in April.  They must take 70 percent. The towns are allowed 120 percent with no price adjustment per year. If the town exceeds that they are then allowed 150 percent at a price adjustment of $9.40 per ton, bringing it to $72.13 per ton (2014).
