NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle restaurant Alvin & Friends will prepare Turducken on Restaurant Hunter Lower Hudson Valley airing Thursday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m.on FIOS 1. The Turducken is a deboned chicken inside a deboned duck, inside a deboned turkey, with stuffing layered between the birds. Chef Raymond Jackson will prepare one on the special Thanksgiving episode. Cuomo Administration Opposes Indian Point Relicensing
CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Gov. Andrew Cuomo 's administration made its opposition known at this week's Atomic Safety and Licensing Board hearing on the application of Entergy Nuclear Operations Inc. for relicensing the Indian Point Nuclear Facilities. In a Nov. 16 letter to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the administration's objections included Entergy's lack of an adequate safety, an evacuation plan for dealing with a major disaster so close to New York City and the company's "woefully inadequate" aging management plan for the plant. Burglars Steal Safe From Stamford Pizza Place, Cause Gas Leak
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Burglars who hit a Stamford pizza place early Monday made off with a safe and pulled the ovens from the wall, causing a gas leak, police said. The burglary was reported at Fairfield Pizza at 87 Atlantic St., according to police. The suspects entered the restaurant by forcing a rear door in the Summer Street alley, police say. Before entering, they cut the restaurant's phone lines, according to police. Town Saves Money On Road Salt, Beekman Highway Superintendent Says
BEEKMAN, N.Y. -- Beekman Highway Superintendent Tony Coviello recently released the following information: The 2015-16 New York State Office of General Service Road Salt Contract will jump from $62.73 per ton to $89.96 per ton, a 43.4 percent increase. Highway superintendents allocate their road salt needs in April. They must take 70 percent. The towns are allowed 120 percent with no price adjustment per year.
