Red Ribbons Symbolize Drug Free Pledges In Lakeland Schools YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Students and staff in the Lakeland School District's secondary schools took part from Oct. 26-30 in the annual Red Ribbon Day activities.  Copper Beech Middle School in Yorktown Heights and Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak made pledges then displayed ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs.

Man Charged With Stealing From Turco's YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – A local man has been charged with allegedly shoplifting food at Turco's in Yorktown Heights, according to Yorktown Police. Police charged Daniel L. Natiello, 36, of Yorktown Heights, with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, they say. Officers responded to Turco's, located at 300 Downing Drive, for a reported shoplifter in custody on Oct. 19 at approximately 7:40 p.m., according to police. Expect Bird Sightings On Little Ferry Nature Walk LITTLE FERRY, N.J. -- A free two-hour Third Tuesday of the Month Nature Walk is planned for Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry. Participants will look for sparrows, late fall migrants and other birds of interest.  The nature walks are offered by the Bergen County Audubon Society on the first Sunday and third Tuesday of every month.
