With Matching Federal Grant, Stamford Totals $676K For Police Body Cameras STAMFORD, Conn. -- The City of Stamford has received $338,000 from the Department of Justice to purchase Body-Worn Cameras for its police officers, Mayor David Martin announced. Stamford will receive $338,000 from the Department of Justice, which it will match dollar-for-dollar, giving the Stamford program $676,000 for cameras, the Mayor said. The City of Stamford was awarded this grant after applying to the Body-Worn Camera Pilot Implementation Program announced by the Department of Justice in May. Paterson Man Charged With Murder In Shooting PATERSON, N.J.-- A Paterson man, Marquis Turner, 19, has been charged with the murder of John Williams, 24, who was shot and killed on July 12, NJ.com has reported. Turner was held in connection with a carjacking on Sept. 17 when he was charged by police, the report says. According to NJ.com, the shooting occurred near the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Street where Williams was found wounded by gunshots. Alice Ann Jacob, 72, Of Yonkers YONKERS, N.Y. -- Alice Ann (Bajek) Jacob, of Yonkers, died Thursday, Sept. 24. She was 72. Jacob was born in Yonkers on March 25, 1943. She became critically ill on a vacation cruise in the middle of the North Atlantic with her daughter. Jacob was rescued at sea by an Irish Coast Guard helicopter that airlifted her from the ship and brought her to a hospital in Cork, Ireland, where she died several days later.
