An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

James Dalton, Devoted Springsteen Fan, Dies Day Before 56th Birthday James "Jim" Dalton, a native of Hoboken, died on Monday, July 3 at the age of 55, one day before his July 4 birthday, according to his obituary. Dalton initially worked in aviation before becoming a longtime sous chef at a country club in Connecticut, his obituary reads. Englewood Lotto Player Wins $50K It was a lucky Monday for two New Jersey Lottery players in Bergen County and Passaic County, respectively. A lottery ticket sold in Englewood and a lottery ticket sold in Hewitt matched four of the white balls and the Power Ball in the Monday, July 17 drawing, winning $50,000. The retailer, a spinoff of Toys R Us, is reopening at American Dream in East Rutherford on Wednesday, July 19 at 11 a.m. following a ribbon cutting ceremony. Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors A 52-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on Sunday, July 16, authorities said. Around 6 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 300 block of Springfield Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Upon arrival, police found Lorenzo Boykins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Stephens and Fragé said. Man Sexually Assaulted Woman In Jersey City: Prosecutors Vernard Doe, a 43-year-old man was arrested on Friday, July 14 for sexually assaulting a 29-year-old woman in June, prosecutors said. The sexual assault occurred inside a building on Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Doe was known to the victim, Suarez said. Doe was charged with numerous counts of sexual assault and was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance on Wednesday, July 19.

35 Bags Of Heroin, Two Handguns Seized From Trio In Secaucus: Police Three people were were arrested outside a hotel in Secaucus on Saturday, July 16 and charged with possessing two handguns and a large quantity of drugs, including 35 bags of heroin, authorities said. At 10:20 a.m., the Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit was patrolling the area near Extended Stay Hotel when they observed a drug deal, Police Chief Dennis Miller said.
