Downed Wires Close Lanes At Holland Tunnel Downed wires forced all southbound lanes on Marin Boulevard between 14th Street and 12th Street in Jersey City at the Holland Tunnel to close, the Port Authority said in a tweet on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 11. Northbound lanes have reopened, the Port Authority tweeted. It is unclear how long the southbound lanes will be closed for.

$15,000 Worth Of Items Snatched While Homeowner Away: Montclair PD A man who returned to Montclair after two weeks out of state was in for a rude awakening, authorities said. On Monday, July 10, a man reported to police that when he returned to his home on Park Street, he discovered his home had been burglarized, with $15,000 worth of items taken, officers said. The burglar entered the home by force through a basement bathroom window, police said. The burglar then proceeded to rummage through the home, and took jewelry, purses and gold coins, police said.

Faye, a 35-year-old Weehawken resident and a native of Senegal, was killed in a car crash on Sunday, July 9 in Newark at U.S. Route 1 and 9 North and McClellan Street. NJ Police Officer Fighting Cancer Won't Do It Alone Mark Steinberg, recently sworn in as a police officer in Verona, is in for the fight of his life. And the community is rallying to his side. Steinberg, 23, was recently was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma cancer. A fundraiser has been created by the Verona PBA to assist him and his family with any expenses. As of Tuesday, July 11, more than $73,500 has been raised. Steinberg went to the emergency room in May suffering from mild back pain and a fever. Gioia Mia, which translates to "My Joy" has taken over the spot formerly held by Fascino, at 331 Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair. Two Arrested For Stealing Car, Stealing Handgun: Linden PD Two Newark residents were arrested in Linden on Thursday, July 6 for driving a stolen car and possessing a stolen handgun, police said. At 8 p.m., officers were alerted to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Route 1, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police said. Florida Man Convicted Of Trying To Kill Estranged Wife, Her New BF In Maryland: Police A 60-year-old man was convicted of killing a man while he attempted to shoot his estranged wife in Maryland, authorities said on Monday, July 10. In Sept. 2021, Gary Savage drove from Tampa, FL to the Silver Spring home of his estranged wife, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office said in a news release. Man Fatally Stabbed At Maryland Restaurant A 62-year-old Maryland man was fatally stabbed at a restaurant on Saturday, July 8, authorities said. At 4:20 p.m., Seat Pleasant Police and Prince George's County Police were called to a restaurant on the 5900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, Prince George's County Police said.
