Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Truck In Monmouth County Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was killed in Freehold on Tuesday, Jan. 9. A spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said 61-year-old David Belcher was hit by a pickup on Route 9 South. No hometown for Belcher was given as of Thursday, Jan. 11. Freehold Township police responded to the crash a few hundred feet north of the Route 9 interchange with New Jersey Route 33 just after 5:30 p.m. Officers found Belcher lying in the road and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 66-year-old man began "experiencing difficulties" when he was snorkeling just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.  It happened near Athol Island, which is just off the coast of New Providence, which is the main island in The Bahamas and includes the capital of Nassau. Most of those who lost electricity are in Monmouth County, according to utility companies. Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) said 10,489 customers were without power as of 11 a.m. Those included 2,169 customers in Marlboro, 1,238 in Millstone, and 1,088 in Colts Neck.
